Malaysia
We are delighted to announce that the 2025-2026 IFP location will be Malaysia!
Economy
Malaysia is one of Southeast Asia’s most promising emerging markets. It boasts a highly diversified economy, strategic location, well-developed infrastructure, and a business-friendly government. With an expected GDP growth of 4.3% in 2024 and strong performance across manufacturing, electronics, and services sectors. Malaysia remains a compelling destination for foreign direct investment. The Netherlands has long-standing economic ties with Malaysia, especially in sectors such as logistics, renewable energy, and agri-food.
Business culture
Malaysian business culture is characterized by a combination of Asian values and international business practices. Building relationships and trust are crucial, and face-to-face meetings are often preferred. The culture emphasizes hierarchy and respect, but decision-making processes are often consensus-driven. Multilingualism and multiculturalism—due to the country’s ethnic diversity—require cultural sensitivity but also offer a strategic advantage for companies looking to engage with regional markets.
